💬 Just Talk

Someone to listen, no judgment

School can be a lot. When you need to talk — about anything — we're here. A private, safe space with real people who care.

Free for all registered students · No appointments needed

🔒

Completely confidential

Your conversations are private and never shared with anyone without your consent.

🧑

Real humans

You're talking to a person, not a bot. Someone who actually reads and responds to you.

Available around exams

We're especially present during term-time peaks, tests and matric season.

💙

No judgment, ever

There's no wrong thing to say. You'll be met with care, full stop.

What you can talk about

Everything is welcome here

There are no rules about what you bring to this space. If it's on your mind, it's worth talking about.

📚

Exam stress & overwhelm

Feeling buried under work? Let's talk through it together — sometimes sharing helps more than you'd expect.

😰

Anxiety & worry

About results, the future, what comes next — whatever's weighing on you, you don't have to sit with it alone.

💔

Relationships & social life

Friend drama, peer pressure, feeling left out — the social side of school is real and it matters.

🏠

Family & home life

Family stress affects how you learn. You don't have to pretend everything is fine to get help.

😔

Low motivation & self-doubt

"Am I even smart enough?" — we hear this a lot. We help students reframe and find their footing.

🤔

Just processing

Sometimes you just need to get thoughts out of your head. That's a valid reason to reach out.

Important

Just Talk is a peer support and emotional wellbeing service — it is not a substitute for professional psychological, psychiatric, or clinical treatment, and our counsellors are not registered mental health professionals.

All conversations are confidential unless there is a risk of imminent harm to you or others, in which case we may need to act to keep you safe.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, do not wait — contact the SADAG helpline (0800 567 567), Lifeline (0800 456 789), or emergency services (10111 / 112) immediately.

How it works

No appointments, no waiting rooms. Just a conversation.

  1. 01

    Start a conversation

Open a thread and say whatever's on your mind — as little or as much as you like.

  2. 02

    A counsellor replies

A real person reads your message and responds, usually within a few hours.

  3. 03

Talk for as long as you need

Keep the conversation going. There's no session limit or time pressure.
